I am hooked on The X Files. I used to watch it when it was first on but then I missed the last few seasons. This summer’s theatrical release got me interested again. I have been downloading episodes, one season at a time, starting with the very first airing.

Back when the show was first on, every Friday night my best friend R and I would crash at my place and watch a new episode (followed by new episodes of Beavis and Butthead). So watching this show reminds me of those times that we spent together wrapped in suspenseful conversation then hilarious irony.
As he lives two states away, we have been in conversation about the show through email. He seems to remember episodes I don’t and it makes me wonder how this show passed under my radar—as I rewatch these early episodes, I feel as if I am watching them for the first time.
I am already through season three and have no plans at stopping until I have made it through all nine seasons. (Though I hear the latter seasons pale in comparison. Which might explain why I stopped watching the show in the first place.)
I am intrigued by the chemistry between Mulder and Scully; there is real camaraderie between the two characters and it reminds me of my friendship with R. But mostly as I watch these episodes, it reminds me of those Friday nights and how special they were to share them with a close friend.
Many of you have already written about getting together with friends to watch Gossip Girls or to compete with each other playing Madden NFL. As we enter fall break and many of you head home for the weekend, think about how many activities you will do with your friends that involve elements of pop culture.
Well I am guilty of watching Gossip Girl with my friends but I did not catch it this break with my crew unfortunately. I did however catch up on some south park with some of my friends which is probably the most obnoxious and hilarious show ever!
